Image of BOOKPLATE -

This bookplate features a drawing of shepherd in colonial 18th century dress with a small flock of sheep and lambs, and what appears to be a small dog with a curly tail. There are two fruit trees in the foreground, two houses in the background, and birds in the sky. The bookplate is inscribed David Schultz sein Catechismus in Frakturschriften. The entire drawing is framed by a hand drawn and painted frame of baroque scrollwork. There is an inscription on the reverse of the piece but the bookplate has been encapsulated in plexiglass and inscription can no longer be read. A custom frame was created for the encapsulated bookplate for the 2001 SLHC Fraktur Treasures exhibition. Abraham Schult
