Description A handspun towel comprised of bleached plain weave linen. At the top center there is a 1.50" long cotton tape loop but was probably added later. Along the top there are two sets of initials. The first set is of the cross-stitched initials "S.S." in black silk, and located underneath that set are the cross-stitched initials "J.P.J." in red cotton. The second set looks to be embroidered later than the origin of the towel. The right and left edges have a 1/8" wide foldover hem, while the top and bottom edges are left unfinished.
Provenance The initials pertain to the makers or owners, but there is no additional information about the owner, maker or origin of this piece.
