Description A handspun towel comprised of bleached goose-eye woven linen. At each of the top corners there is a 1.75" long bleached linen tape loop. At the bottom there is a 6.00" wide attached bleached linen drawn work panel with darning stitched motifs in white cotton. The stitched design is of three potted flower arrangements with the name "SUSANA KRIEBL" and the date "1825" stitched underneath. Attached to the drawn work panel is an applied 5.00" long mill made white cotton fringe. The right and left edges have a 1/16" wide foldover hem while the top edge has been left unfinished.
Condition Excellent-
Condition Notes The structure of the towel in good shape but the drawn work panel is unraveling in several spots.
Provenance Made by Susanna S. (Kriebel) Anders (1804-1881) before she married George Y. Anders (1798-1890). The towel probably originates from Towamencin Township, Montgomery County where Susanna was raised.
