Painted photograph, from the TH Evers and Alex Kientzle Artists Photograph and Ambrotype Gallery,606 Arch Street opposite the Arch Street Theater in Philadelphia. The back is papered with two labels. The above information and a second label which reads "William A. Jacoby." William A. Jacoby is sitting on a wood chair with his left arm resting on table. William is wearing a black suit and vest with a white shirt and black bow tie. A gold chain from a pocket watch hangs from the vest pocket. William has dark wavy hair and a large goatee beard. His left arm rests on the table beside the chair and his right arm is resting in his lap. The small round table has a red table cloth. Off to his left beyond the table is part of a green curtain and a bookshelf. The background is very dark grey becoming lighter to outline his body. The frame is oval and ornate. It is gold. The outside of the frame has a decorative outline. Four decorative pieces are opposite on another on the frame. A large crest is coming out of the top of the frame and a small one is at the bottom of the frame. The inside of the frame has a decorative outline to border the picture. All of the gold work is attached or painted on the plaster overlay of the wood frame. At the top of the back of the frame is a circular hanger. |
