"COLEBROOKDALE SCHOOL" SIGNATURE QUILT: 6 1/2' golden yellow border contains signatures of students and school and district staff. Corner blocks are labled "Colebrookdale School 1988-1989" or "Fourth Grade Class Project 1988-1989" 9 x 9 1/4' white celebrity signature blocks are each surrounded by 1 1/2' strips of brightly colored fabrics, mitered at the corners with few - if any - fabrics repeated. The 1/2' binding is bright blue The quilt is both quilted and tied ( with yellow thread ) sleeve to hang quilt seen on back HISTORY: 1989 students of 4th Grades in Colebrookdale Elemetary School (Boyertown area school district) and their teachers Cecile Stevenson and Linda Manwiller set project into action at my ? suggestion. Students and the teachers formulated a list of people involved in entertainment , education, sports, politics, science, literature and the arts. Teachers composed a form requesting each celebrity to autograph a white fabric block and return it. Each of the 49 students wrote an individual letter to one of the public figures on the list. 29 of the celebrities returned patches. Mothers assisted in stitching the blocks into a quilt, knotting it and quilting. Ladies from Bally Mennonite Church helped. Every child K- 6th grade, staff members including cafeteria workers, janetors added their names on the border of the quilt. Celebrities on quilt: Jimmy Carter Dan Quail Dr.Kuets ?
