Description |
Two crude line drawings, on a single sheet, of men hunting wild animals. One drawing is above the other. The paper was folded in the middle, so that when it opens up, both images are visible. The top drawing is of a hunter pointing a bow and arrow at the nose of a wild ox. The hunter is in a relaxed pose, with one knee bent. The ox is less recognizable; it has a horn on the top of its nose that resembles a rhinocerous horn, and has decoration on its side that resembles plating, and a jagged back. The reverse of this drawing is labeled "vild houcks". The bottom drawing is of a man leading large leopard by a chain around the leopard's neck. The leopard is recognizable as a cat, with a long tail, claws, a large eye, a mouth, and stubby whiskers. Both hunters have one eye visible, a nose, and hair, but no mouth, and have the outline of a skirt or loincloth. The reverse of the bottom drawing is labeled "liberd" and inscribed "Abraham Hubner [Heebner] \ April the 5 1818". |
