Description |
Nine-patch Quilt comprised of a 7 x 8 block formation. Each block averages 6.625" x 6.750" and is made of nine 2.50" x 2.50" individual squares. Various printed cottons are used for the squares. Separating each block is a 2.50" wide sashing made of light brown cotton with a red geometric print and cornerstones made of double pink cotton. A 1.50" wide champagne satin binding has been applied to the left and part of the top edges, altering the width of the surrounding border. The top border ranges from 3.00" to 4.50" wide, the left border is 5.00" wide and the right and bottom borders are 6.50" wide with a 1/4" wide foldover binding from front to back. The cream satin binding was applied later and probably due to the poor condition of the binding. The entire quilt has diamond cross-hatching and is handstitched with brown thread and a SPI of 6-7. The back is comprised of a brown and tan cotton with repeated leaf print. |
