Description |
Drawing of a woman in a brown dress with large ruffled collar and multicolored bonnet. Her skin is white with pink shading, red lips, blue eyes, black hair, textured with white/tan curves. One ear is showing, and a red earring dangles from it. Her arms are crossed in front, covered with brown long sleeves. One hand is showing, lifted slightly and open, showing a gold ring on her finger. The end of the sleeve has a white ruffle. The collar has three layers of ruffles; the bottom is green, the middle is maroon, and the top ruffle (which extends well up behind the woman's head) is yellow. The collar is tied in front with a pink ribbon; a red beaded necklace beneath. The bonnet is large, with sharp green ruffles or feathers and sections of striped fabric, multicolored in red, maroon, green, blue, yellow and brown. Outlined and shaded in ink. Date 1833 is inscribed on reverse in pencil. |
