Description |
Nine-Patch Crib Quilt comprised of a 9 x 11 block formation set on point. Each block averages 3.50" x 3.50" and consists of either a brown floral chintz, or a smaller block made of nine individual squares. The small squares are made of either a plain brown cotton, a printed yellow cotton or a plain cream cotton. Surrounding the blocks are half blocks made of pink and white printed gingham cotton and a 1/4" wide foldover binding from front to back on the right, left and bottom edges and on the top there is a 3/8" wide applied binding made of blue cotton with a small white dot print. The entire quilt has large cross-hatching and is all handstitched with brown thread and a SPI of 7. The back is comprised of a blue and brown striped ground with various ironwork motif prints. A muslin sleeve has been attached by museum staff for display purposes. |
