Description |
A child's machine made underskirt comprised of white cotton broadcloth. There are nine vertical buttonholes on the waistband, which indicates that this underskirt would have been attached to a chemise or a shirt. It is also possible that this was part of a Christening gown. Along the waistline there is also cartridge pleating which adds to the fullness of the skirt. Near the hem there are five horizontal rows of thin pintucks. Attached to the hem is an ornate 2.50" long white cotton crochet scalloped trim. The entire underskirt has been chemically treated with a glaze. |
