Description |
A child's handstitched dress comprised of sheer white cotton batiste. There is a soft square neckline with a centered applied triangular panel made out of broderie anglaise framed by scalloped revers of the batiste, which has been trimmed with eyelet and buttonhole stitching. The short cap sleeves are raglan set and comprised of a double layer of eyelet embroidery, with the top layer being the most heavily decorated. There is an inset waistband with an applied eyelet trim of leaf motifs. The waistline is cartridge pleated at the seam. There is a scalloped hem with a third eyelet design and three rows of pintucks located above. At the back there is evidence of a drawstring insertion into the neckline but there is no drawstring intact. At the back waist there are two fabric eyes, indicating there was once a hook and eye closure. |
