Description |
A ladies dress comprised of sheer white cotton lawn. The top portion has a squared scooped neckline with seven very thin pintucks at the back. There is a centered white satin stitched embroidered design of four hanging floral wreaths with inserts of embroidered leno panels. The three quarter length sleeves are set in to the arm syce. There are pintucks at the shoulders which creates volume at the top of the sleeves. There are also vertical inserts of lace, which frames another example of the embroidered wreath design. The lace trim is attached to cuffs. The waist is slightly dropped, hitting just below the natural line. At the waist, the skirt is constructed with an attached outer flounce that is open down the center and exposes the underskirt. The central panel features a continued use of the embroidered wreath design, but now formated into pairs of the motif. The flounce is still made out of the same white cotton lawn, but features different embroidery; a scrolling heart shape with satin embroidery flowers and insert of leno panels. This motif is also mirrored on the lower hem of the dress. Both the hem of the flounce and the dress are scalloped with buttonhole stitching. The dress is machine constructed with hand finishing details. |
